I noticed that the mouse right click on Firefox triggers an addEventListener.
I tried this code on more browsers and more OS (IE 11-10-9, Safari, Chrome) and by pressing the mouse right click, only on Firefox the console.log message is always printed.
And also I noticed that, when the click is fired into the div, it triggers the document.addEventListener only.I searched on Firefox changelog but no news about this.
Can anyone explain this behavior?Thanks!

By default, in all browsers right click event is captured by
addEventListener('contextmenu') , otherwise a right click will open a window with some options (each browser has different one).
In Firefox, when you add
addEventListener('click') to the document object, it will capture any mouse clicking events (left, right, wheel) on the document and it will disable this right click behavior.
In addition, this is what Mozilla documentation says in Mouse Events section, although the (ANY button) stuff is not activated until you add the listener to the
document object
click: A pointing device button (ANY button; soon to be primary button only) has been pressed and released on an element.
*Note: still the above window is shown when you double click right mouse button, but not with a single click.

Hi, What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on machine? Include any you have EVER had on this machine including those you uninstalled (they leave remnants behind which can cause strange issues). If no joy something maybe blocking it. Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - IE with no Addons - does this work better? IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced Tab - click Restore then click Reset - Apply / OK IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security Tab - click reset all zones to default - Apply / OK Close and restart IE and/or IE with no addons any better? IE - Tools - Manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if it is there, this is no longer needed but Java still installs it and it causes issues - you ever update Java go back in and disable it again.) Look for other possible problems. Windows Defender - Tools - Software Explorer - look for issues with programs that do not look right. Permitted are usually OK and 'not permitted' are not always bad. If in doubt about a program ask about it here. Could be a BHO - BHOremover - Free - standalone program, needs no install, download and run - not all are bad however some can cause your issue (Toolbars are BHO's). http://securityxploded.com/bhoremover.php Startup Programs http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/79612-startup-programs-enable-disable.html Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ -------------------------------- Try these to clear corruption and repair/replace damaged/missing system files. Run DiskCleanup - Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup Start - type in Search box - COMMAND find at top of list - RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN sfc /scannow How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista cbs.log http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228 Then run checkdisk - schedule it to run at next start and then Apply OK your way out then restart. Has anyone knows the sollution how to enable mouse right-click functions in browsers(im using Avant and IE) ?
By right-clicking ,e.g. on internet links or pictures, there is no response from a right mouse button, although by cliking desktop's items its works properly.
Im having new HP laptop with Vista H Premium and have checked all possible options in Control Panel for mouse and in Internet Tools (in browsers options)..havent figured yet how to fix it.
I would be gratefull for your advice.
Often a website will preclude you from saving pictures via an embedded script.
One web solution is to uninstall the mouse drivers from Device Manager, reboot and Scan for Hardware Changes.
I've actually noticed this problem with my Vista copy. At first I thought it was a Vista issue. But I found that it was a trojan and removed it. I have no idea how I got the trojan, but I think it was from a torrent (I found it with AVG and looking at the task manager).
Let me know if I am wrong, and it was the mouse driver.
You can collect torjans from torrents, but also from types of websites. Make sure that AVG deletes it and doesn't quarantine it.

Star trek starfleet command download. Ajax, there were no malware detected by my AV (Norton IS), niether by a2 or AVG..
By the way, after installing AVG, system started to behave very unstable, stalled few times, and Avant browser was freezing after starting. I've used AVG on my old XP and it did good job. Seems that with Vista they need some 'tweeks' to develop..(i uninstalled AVG after scan). In the meantime, I have to check the Scott's provided sollution when i get few free hours to spend.. Michal, I dont use any torrents or any such kind of stuff..
Thanks guys for your time.
Just strange, that for ANY browsers content, the right-click is not working and its seems that im only one got this problem..
Try using this to help if you are using Internet Explorer:
'In the meantime, I have to check the Scott's provided sollution when i get few free hours to spend..'
The troubleshooting step I provided above will take mere minutes.
Oh sorry Scott, never looked up. :P Oh well - good enough to have multiple ways.

lol scott,
im a bit unfamiliar with this hardware scan.. thought i need time to figure it up first.
Michael,
the link u provided is for Win XP.. im refering to Vista, tho i wish i had my trusted XP back again (but it crashed)
I am sure that that link will work for Vista. Most things do work. If you still have your recovery discs for XP then I am sure you could switch back, unless you bought your computer with Vista preinstalled and got rid of the XP one.

thanks guys .. i have solved the issue !
Its all has to do with Google's tool bar. Sometimes u need to upgrade for newest version of it, sometimes to remove it totally, sometimes just enable it and put it on your browser's tab.
Being myself non-google user i have disabled it what caused me such problems. Now i have to figure how to safely remove it without affecting mouse settings (i have tried that but mouse right-click was not restored).
Thanks for your time guys, hope this small solvedd annoyance would be helpful for other readers too.
Cheers Firefox Can't Right Click On Image
FerisT, thanks, man. You are the man!
That was my exact problem, and I have been stressing, because I work online, and my cable bill is due, and couldn't figure out the problem. It was the Google Toolbar! Thanks again. Topic Closed

Can't Right Click On Website Firefox
Started firefox today and now I can't right click on 99% of anything, I can right click on youtube videos to copy the url, but I can't select text and right click to copy, or even open the context menu, in reddit, google, facebook, I can't open an item in a new tab via this menu since it is now gone.
What the heck is going on with this new update? Can anyone tell me if this is intentional, or why this change was made?
Firefox Can't Right Click Back
I have tried safe mode, disabling all add ons, a refresh, a reinstall, I am up to date with version 53.
edit: I can't even right click on a tab to close other tabs anymore.
